Derry Township Police Collectible Trading Card Program Kick-Off

The Derry Township Police Department is excited to announce the 2020 Police Collectible Card Program.  We have been working over the last few months to get this program initiated, and its finally here.

This Police Department card set contains 45 total cards.  There are 30 cards of the Police Department Officers and Community Service Officers as well as 12 police vehicle cards and 3 specialty police cards.

Over the course of a two-month period, children who wish to participate in this program will be tasked with collecting the entire set of cards.  This program has existed nationwide for numerous years with great success in the communities where it was implemented.  The purpose and hope of this program are that it will make children feel more comfortable approaching our Officers to request one of their cards, opening a line of communication and positive interaction between the Officer and child, which we believe is beneficial for the children and the community.  This interactive community program will connect the youth of the Township and their families with the Police Officers on the street and local businesses within the community they live.  Multiple businesses are already on board supporting this program by providing donations, prizes, and assisting with handing out certain trading cards at their establishments.

The program will kick off on Friday January 10, 2020 and run through Saturday March 7, 2020.  Anytime on January 10th or after, a checklist of the cards will be available for pick up in the Police Department Communications Center, located at 620 Clearwater Road, Hershey.  When you pick up your checklist you will receive your first card.  The checklist will also provide the location of the business where a trading card for the set can be obtained.  Throughout these 8 weeks a new vehicle or specialty card from the set can be picked up at the Derry Township Police Department Communications Center.  The list of dates and the specific card for each week will be provided along with the original checklist.

At the conclusion of the program, participants can turn their checklist in at the Derry Township Police Department by Sunday, March 8, to be entered in the prize drawing where numerous gift cards and prizes will be awarded.  It’s very easy to be entered in the prize drawing.  Simply bring in your checklist, along with the cards that have been collected, and turn the checklist over to a Police Officer to verify.

The Derry Township Police Department would like to thank the local businesses that have already committed to assist with this program by either providing donations and prizes or handing out cards at their establishments.

Please contact Officer Jason Rode at 717-534-2202 if you have any questions regarding this program or would like to donate toward the program.
