The incident has been resolved peacefully. The area may still be blocked off while officers remain to finish up securing the scene.

Police are investigating an active incident in the 700 Block of Cocoa Avenue. Police have blocked off the area and the surrounding block. Residents are asked to shelter in place unless directed by police. Please stay away from the area.

     The Derry Township Police Department will be making some slight operational adjustments concerning guests to our police station in consideration of COVID-19.  Effective immediately the following restrictions will be in place concerning visitors to our building.

       * All tours of the police station will be postponed until further notice.

The portion of Sand Hill Road from Cherry Drive to Forest Ave will be closed again starting at 7:00 p.m. Friday night (3/13) through 6:00 a.m.

The portion of Sand Hill Road from Cherry Drive to Forest Ave will be closed starting at 7:00 p.m. Friday night (3/6) through 6:00 a.m. Monday (3/9) so PPL can complete work on the underground transmission line.  


The following roads will be closed in Derry Twp. in preparation for and during the annual New Year’s Eve celebration.

Park Avenue (SR743) will be closed from 11:00AM on December 31st until 3:00AM January 1st from Chocolate Avenue (SR422) to Park Blvd.

     We are fielding many calls of flooding in several areas of the Township.  Motorists are urged to stay away from flooded areas as vehicles are becoming disabled on flooded roadways.  Sand Hill Road remains closed in the area of Foxanna Drive for a tree down on power lines.  There is no ETA from PPL to when this issue will be remedied.

The Hershey Half Marathon has begun. Road closures are in place. Road closure updates will be posted to DTPD Twitter account. 

     The annual Hershey Half Marathon is slated for Sunday, October 20th.  Road closures and detours will be occurring throughout areas in and around Hershey and Hersheypark starting at about 7:00 - 7:15 am.  The road closures should be reopened by about 10:45 - 11:00 am.

Some of the public roadways that will be affected by this event will be the roadway closures of :

1. Park Blvd., between Hersheypark Dr., (SR 2016) and Ridge Rd.;

2. Park Ave., (SR 0743) between E. Derry Rd., and Chocolate Ave., (SR 0422);

   Temporary parking restrictions will take place on October 15, 2019 from 5:00 pm to 11:00 pm along the parade route for the Annual Halloween Parade in Hershey  These parking restrictions are being posted ahead of the date of the parade to give notice to motorists who normally use those parking zones.  The image included shows the affected parking zones in red.
