On December 20, 2018, Harrisburg Police Officers responded to the PNC Bank located at 1301 Derry Street for a report of a bank robbery in progress.
Employees stated that the suspect, Jacob Cerro, entered the bank. An employee greeted him as he came in, but he ignored her. The employee became suspicious of Cerro when she observed him standing very closely to the customer in front of him. She then observed Cerro hand the teller a gray plastic bag. The employee pressed the emergency call button and saw Cerro walk out of the bank with the bag.
The teller stated that when Cerro approached her, he handed her a folded-up note. The note read, “I’m armed. Give me all the money, no one gets hurt.” Cerro gave her a plastic bag. The teller put $1295.00 in the bag, handed it to Cerro and he left. The employees were able to give a description of Cerro as well as his direction of travel, and Officers were able to locate him on Thompson Street. Cerro was detained and the money was recovered.
Jacob Cerro was charged with Robbery - Threat of Immediate Serious Injury and two counts of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
