On December 5, 2018, at 6 p.m., Harrisburg Police Officers were on the 1900 block of Bellevue Road for a homicide investigation when multiple gunshots rang out in the area of the 1800 block of Chestnut Street. Officers also heard a vehicle revving its engine in the same direction. As several Officers ran towards Chestnut, a white four-door sedan turned down 19th Street. It was believed that the vehicle was involved in the shooting. During this time, a resident from the 1800 block of Chestnut Street called 911 to report that her residence had been shot multiple times.
The vehicle crashed a short distance later and two males ran from the vehicle on foot. The driver ran towards the scene of the homicide on the 1900 block of Bellevue Road and was detained. The passenger fled in a different direction was not apprehended. The driver was identified as Christopher Conway. A firearm was found in the vehicle.
Conway was charged with one count each of Receiving Stolen Property, Possession of Firearm Prohibited, Firearms Not to Be Carried W/O License, Discharge of Firearm into Occupied Structure, Reckless Driving, Driving W/O A License, Duties at a Stop Sign; three counts of Recklessly Endangering Another Person and four counts of Accident Damage to Unattended Vehicle or Property.
