On 5/16/17 at 0202 hours, Harrisburg Police responded to the 600 block Graham St for a burglar alarm. Officers encountered Michael Detwiler walking between two of the buildings. Detwiler was wearing a backpack and carrying 2 other bags. Detwiler was in possession of a laptop computer, a string trimmer, a hedge clipper, a battery charger, luggage and clothing. Detwiler indicated that he found these items in the dumpster. Officers determined that the rear door to the business that had the alarm had fresh pry marks near the lock, which was the same area where Detwiler was originally observed.
Officers conducted a neighborhood canvas and located a garage, on the 3100 block of Pennwood Rd, with the overhead garage door partially open. Officers contacted the owner who confirmed that the overhead door was forced open. The property owner identified the battery charger, the string trimmer, the hedge clipper, the luggage and clothing, as being taken from the garage.
Detwiler was charged with Burglary and Possession of Instruments of Crime.
