On February 10, 2018, at approximately 4:48 p.m., Harrisburg Police were dispatched to the Sayford Supermarket at 1307 North 3rd Street for a report of a male who was fighting the owner of the store. When Police arrived, they encountered the store owner laying on top of the suspect, who was identified as Stanley Dotson. The owner stated that Doston tried to steal items from the store.
When Officers attempted to detain Dotson, he resisted arrest and yelled racial slurs towards police. After he was handcuffed, the officers conducted a search of Dotson. During the search, Dotson bit an officer’s hand.
Officers learned that an employee observed Dotson putting items into his jacket and notified the store owner. The owner then approached Dotson and observed the items in Dotson’s pockets and stated that he needed to pay for the items. Dotson stated that he had no money and would not be paying for the items. Dotson then came out to the front of the store and attempted to punch the store owner who tried to stop him. The owner was able to fight back and along with the help of his wife, they were able to subdue Dotson until police arrived.
Dotson is being charged with robbery, aggravated assault on police, resisting arrest, public drunkenness and disorderly conduct.
