On May 15, 2018, at approximately 1:32 a.m., Harrisburg Police Officers were dispatched to the 100 block of State St for a report of people fighting outside. The Reporting Party stated that a man was lying on the sidewalk outside and that three other males fled toward North 2nd Street.
Officers arrived on scene and located the victim, who had obvious signs of injury, including a bloody nose. He informed police that three males had assaulted him and taken his phones. He stated that he had been approached by one of the suspects, who asked to use his phone. The victim declined and one of the males grabbed for his phone. The victim put his phone in his pocket and was struck by one of the males. The other two males joined in and the victim was knocked to the ground where he was punched and kicked. The residents in the area observed the incident and started to yell at the males, the suspects went into the victim’s pockets and removed two cell phones, as well as a Bluetooth headset from his neck. They then fled the scene.
The victim was able to provide descriptions of the assailants, which was broadcasted to Officers who began to check the area.
Capitol Police were in the vicinity of Court and Walnut Streets when they observed three males fitting the description given by the victim. Capitol Police stopped the males and the victim was brought to the scene, where he positively identified the males as the suspects who robbed him. The suspects also still had the victim’s two cell phones; however, the Bluetooth headset was not recovered.
Two of the suspects were identified as Devan Robinson and Jyair Leonard. The third male was a juvenile. All three were charged with Robbery and Criminal Conspiracy and the juvenile had an additional charge of curfew violation.
