On February 21, 2018 at approximately 10:23 a.m., Harrisburg Police were dispatched to the 2100 block of Swatara Street for a reported shooting that was to have taken place on February 20, 2018.
When Officers arrived, they spoke with the victim who wanted to report that her Silver Dodge Charger was shot up by a man known to her as Tyree Smith. On February 20, 2018, the victim attended the Harrisburg High School Basketball Game with her boyfriend. While at the game Tyree Smith approached the victims as they sat in the stands. Smith pointed at him and stated, "You know what I get into." Smith then walked away.
When the game was over, the victim and her boyfriend left the school and were driving to their residence. At the intersection of South 18th and Holly Streets, the victim stopped her vehicle at the stop sign. As her vehicle was stopped, a white Chrysler van drove up behind her vehicle and passed her. She then observed Tyree Smith approach the passenger side of her vehicle on foot. She saw Smith fire a gun at her vehicle striking her vehicle 4 times. The victim accelerated her vehicle and drove from the area to her residence which is a short distance away.
On February 21, 2018, at approximately 3:52 p.m., Harrisburg Police Officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle after receiving an anonymous call for drug activity at Reservoir Park. The driver of the vehicle was Tyree Rashaun Smith, who was wanted in connection with the shooting incident that occurred on February 20, 2018. Smith was taken into custody.
In 2011, Smith plead guilty to Criminal Attempt Homicide and Firearms Not to Be Carried Without a License, making him a Person Not to Possess. Consequently, Tyree Smith was charged with one count each Firearms Not To Be Carried Without a License and Possession Of Firearm, in addition to one count each of Recklessly Endangering Another Person; Simple Assault; Criminal Mischief.
