On April 7, 2018, at approximately 12:25 a.m., Harrisburg Police Officers were dispatched to Stallions Bar, located at 706 N 3rd Street, for a report of a robbery.
The victim stated that she was catering an event in the area and loading her vehicle with items from the event. While she was walking to her vehicle, a blue SUV stopped in the road and a heavy-set black male exited the vehicle and approached the victim. The male told the victim that he had a gun. The victim attempted to get away, but the male grabbed her and then ripped her purse away from her. He then fled the scene.
Witnesses at the scene were able to provide Officers with more information regarding the suspect vehicle, which was determined to be a blue Ford Explorer registered to Victor Steele. The information was given to mobile units in the area and several minutes later, the suspect vehicle was stopped in the 1300 block of Howard Street. The driver, later identified as Victor Steele, got out of the vehicle and refused to comply with verbal commands. He tried to get back into his vehicle, but then turned and advanced on the officers. Steele was tasered and subsequently arrested. A search of his person revealed a crack pipe.
The victim was brought to the scene and positively identified Steele as the male who stole her purse. Steele also admitted to the robbery and directed Officers to the area of Christian and Summit Streets, where the stolen purse was recovered.
Steele was charged with two counts of Robbery, and one count each of Simple Assault, Terroristic Threats, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
