The Harrisburg City Police Department and the Office of the Dauphin County District Attorney announced the arrest of Lamarr A. Washington for a rape that occurred in 2014.
On June 16, 2014, police responded to a 911 call to a residence on the 2100 block of Derry Street. At the home, they found a woman who was badly beaten and had been strangled to the point of losing consciousness. The woman told police she was sleeping in her bed when she was attacked by an unidentified male. The assailant physically and sexually assaulted her. When police processed the scene, they found that the front window had been forced open. DNA evidence was obtained from the scene and submitted to the PSP crime laboratory; however, the perpetrator of the crime was unable to be identified for the last four years. In the last week, the DNA evidence was linked to the defendant Lamarr Washington.
Washington was arraigned on the charges of Rape, Involuntary Deviate Sexual Intercourse, Burglary, Aggravated Assault, and Terroristic Threats. A preliminary hearing date is pending.
