On Tuesday February 18th the Harrisburg Police were dispatched to Wildwood Park for a report of a raccoon that attacked a male, causing minor injuries. The raccoon was located, and due to its unusual and aggressive behavior it was euthanized. The raccoon was taken to a state lab for testing, and did test positive for rabies.
Anyone visiting Wildwood Park is asked to contact a Dauphin County Park Official or the Harrisburg Police/Animal Control (717-558-6900) if they come across an animal acting unusual or unnaturally aggressive. Anyone walking their dogs in the park is reminded to keep the dog(s) on a leash, and ensure that their rabies vaccination is current.
