On 3/8/17 at 1432 hours, Harrisburg Police responded to Logan and Emerald Streets to assist Dauphin County Probation officer with an arrest. The probation officers had received information that a juvenile on probation was carrying a handgun. The probation officers went out and found the juvenile in the 300 block of Woodbine Street. The juvenile saw the probation officers and began running away while grasping his front waistband. He was captured by the probations on Logan at Emerald Street as he was trying to discard 27 bags of heroin. Officers were also able to find a Sig Saurer 9mm handgun that was also discarded.
At the same time that probation officers began to chase this juvenile, they also observed another juvenile who began to run towards N. 4th Street also clutching his waistband. Probations chased this person and observed him throw a handgun away before he was captured at 5th and Maclay Streets. A Sig Saurer 40 caliber handgun was retrieved by the probation officer.
Juvenile 1 was charged with Person not to Possess a Firearm, Carrying a Firearm under 18, Carrying a Firearm without a License, Tampering with Evidence, PWI-Heroin, and Paraphernalia
Juvenile 2 was charged with Carrying a Firearm under 18, Carrying a Firearm without a License, and Tampering with Evidence.
