School Threats of Violence

2-23-18 1400hrs:

The Harrisburg City Police, in conjunction with The Lower Paxton Police Department and FBI, are conducting a joint investigation into similar threats that were received by their respective school districts.

At the time of this writing, there are several active parts in the investigative process for this incident. Those parts need to be compared in order to establish whether or not a valid threat to a school ever existed.

Information has been developed that leads investigators to believe the perpetrator (s) have employed electronic means that are making the task of finding the origin of the threats an extremely complicated process. Inquiries to social media outlets are being conducted in order to identify the source of the threats.

Parents are being asked to encourage their children to report anything they believe to be suspicious, either on social media, or in school.

During the overnight hours several threats of violence were received towards the Harrisburg School District through social media.

These threats were taken seriously, and are being actively investigated by the Harrisburg City Police.

As information is developed and validated it will be released when feasible.

Anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to contact the Harrisburg city Police at 717-558-6900 or email
