Halloween Bash and Safety Tips
Harrisburg is holding its first-ever Bash at the Brownstone Halloween party on Wednesday, October 26th, from 5-8 pm at the Reservoir Park Brownstone building. The free event includes pumpkin decorating, a reptile zoo, games, face painting, and raffles as well as refreshments, hot dogs, and candy! There will be a costume contest for the funniest, scariest, and most original costumes in three age groups: ages 0-5 will be held at 6:15 pm; ages 6-11 will be held at 6:30 pm; ages 12-15 will be held at 6:45 pm. There will also be a pet costume contest at 7 pm. The party is a walk-up event; Reservoir Drive will be closed to traffic with limited parking available at the Reservoir Park basketball courts.
Trick-or-Treating will take place throughout Harrisburg neighborhoods the following night, Thursday, October 27th, from 5-7 pm. To ensure safety, choose a costume that won’t obscure vision or pose a tripping hazard, and wear reflective tape or use a flashlight to improve visibility. A responsible adult should accompany young children; older children should have a planned route and a specific time they are expected to be home. All trick-or-treaters should be alert for cars and cross only at the corner, never between parked vehicles or mid-block. Motorists should watch for children crossing the street, obey all traffic signs and signals, and drive slowly in residential neighborhoods.
We hope everyone has a safe and fun Halloween!
