On February 11, 2023 at approximately 1pm, the Lower Paxton Bureau of Police were dispatched to the 4200 block of Jonestown Rd for a report of a male destroying his residence. Upon Lower Paxton Bureau of Police's arrival, Officers were advised by witnesses that the male - identified as Michael Benson, had attempted to set the residence on fire earlier in the day and was now to be barricaded himself in his room, holding a shard of glass in his hands. Officer's attempted contact with Benson, who refused to exit his room and was observed in an agitated state. The Dauphin County Crisis Response Team were summoned to the scene while Lower Paxton Officers continued to negotiate with Benson. At 3:20pm Benson was safely taken into custody and transported to the Dauphin County Booking Center, where he was charged with (1) count 3301(a)(1)(ii) Attempted Arson - F1, (1) count 3302(b) Risking Catastrophe - F3, and (1) count 2705 Recklessly Endangering Another Person - M2.
