On Wednesday 1/17/2018, Robert D. Shaffner II, age 78, of the 200 block of Brookside Drive, Harrisburg, was arrested by Lower Paxton Twp Police and charged with one count of Theft by Unlawful Taking (F3), and one count of Dealing in Proceeds of Unlawful Activities (F1). These charges stem from an investigation which was initiated by the President of the Central Dauphin Bus Drivers Association. Shaffner has held the position of Treasurer for CDBDA for several years. In August of 2017 the President of the Association discovered that a large amount of funds were missing from the account of the CDBDA. Several years of bank statements were obtained and reviewed. It was discovered that between September 2015 and August 2017 Shaffner used his CDBDA issued Debit Visa card to conduct 167 ATM Cash withdrawals to steal over $26,000 from the association bank account. Shaffner was arraigned on 1/17/2018 by MDJ Lindsey and bail was seat at $25,000 unsecured.
