On May 18 at approximately 12:05pm, Lower Paxton Police were dispatched to the 5900 block of Larue Street in reference to a suicidal subject. The caller reported that she was on the phone with her estranged husband when he made several suicidal statements. The caller then heard what she believed to be a gunshot.
The initial responding units established a perimeter around the residence and made contact with the resident over the telephone. The individual told LPPD personnel that he wanted to harm himself and barricaded himself inside the residence shortly after their arrival.
The Dauphin County CRT team was activated and negotiators entered into dialogue with the subject.
At approximately 6:30pm, the subject surrendered to police without incident. No one was hurt during the incident.
