PHONE SCAM

On July 16, 2016, the Lower Paxton Township Police responded to a report of a phone scam. The complainant reported that he received a call from a man claiming to be "Detective Jacobs". Jacobs told the complainant that he missed his grand jury hearing and he needed to call the US Marshal Service at the number he provided and ask for Deputy Wilson.  It was verified with the US Marshal Service that they would not call people over the phone for missing grand jury duty.

The Lower Paxton Township Police recommend that if you get a call from someone that you don't know who is trying to sell you something or asking you to provide personal information, that you say, "No thanks" and contact LPPD for verification.
