Phone Scam Alert

The Lower Paxton Police Department advises all township residents to be aware of several phone scams that have been reported to LPPD over the last few days. Several residents of the township have received calls from unidentified actors claiming to be affiliated with the IRS or the Department of Homeland Security. In most cases, the suspects tell citizens that they owe back taxes or have a warrant for their arrest. They encourage residents to remedy the issue by sending money via Western Union or Money Gram.

Please note that governmental entities such as the IRS or the Department of Homeland Security will never ask for payment via wire transfer. If you should receive one of these unsolicited phone calls, please hang up the phone immediately and do not provide the caller with any personal or banking information.
