POSITION VACANCIES FOR POLICE OFFICER
This testing process will include a written test, physical agility test, oral board, polygraph examination, background investigation, physical examination, drug screen and psychological evaluation.
GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Each applicant for this position shall be at least 18 years of age at time of application and possess a diploma from an accredited high school or graduate equivalency. In addition, each applicant must be a United States citizen, be physically and psychologically able to perform the essential functions of a police officer, and, prior to appointment and during his or her employment with the Township, possess a valid motor vehicle operator's license issued by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

Qualifications
-Must be a United States citizen and 18 years of age or older as of February 28th, 2023.
-Must have a valid Driver’s License. [Out-of-state applicants must obtain a valid Pennsylvania Driver’s License within 60 days of hire.]
-Must possess a High School Diploma or equivalent.
-Must be capable of possessing the requisite skills, knowledge, and abilities of a police officer.
-In addition, you must be physically and psychologically able to perform the essential functions of a police officer and be of good moral character.
-Must pass a written examination and a Physical Agility Test to continue with the selection process.
-Must conform to Lower Swatara Twp’s Operations Directive 31.1.03 A. -Body Modification-Tattoos and Branding which reads:
1. Tattoos, branding, or any other type of physical modification is not permitted on the
face or visible part of the neck. Tattoos, branding, or other types of physical modification on
either arm below the elbow must be covered by a long sleeve uniform shirt or other garments compatible and appropriate with the uniform or other work attire. All members of
the department must conform to this policy including personnel assigned to the Criminal
Investigation Unit or any other special assignment.
-Upon hire, officers must complete a minimum one-year probationary training period.
