SUBJECT: Lower Swatara Police Officer shot in the leg by suspect at Domestic Disturbance.
Lower Swatara Township, PA – On 10/14/2019 at approx. 11:19 pm - The Lower Swatara Township Police were dispatched to the 100 block of Bentley Lane in Lower Swatara Township for a report of a domestic violence call.
Officer Josh Malott; who has been with the department for 12 years and Officer Timothy Shea who has been with the department for 10 months responded to this call. Upon arrival the officers made entry into the home after hearing a woman inside who was in distress.
Once inside Officer Malott and Officer Shea located the woman and male suspect inside of the residence. The male fired several shots and one of them struck Officer Shea in his leg. Officer Malott and Officer Shea were able to help the woman escape the home without further injury.
Officer Shea was transported to the hospital where he received medical attention for the gunshot wound and is recovering.
The male then barricaded himself inside the home and the Dauphin County Critical Response Team (CRT) was activated to extract and apprehend the suspect who was still inside the home.
