On July 7th a traffic stop was conducted by an officer for a vehicle code violation. There were 5 occupants in the vehicle so assisting officers were requested and arrived. Each occupant was asked to exit the vehicle and was interviewed separately by officers. One of the officers noticed the scent of marijuana coming from the vehicle. A probable cause search was conducted yielding a pistol concealed under the seat cushion in which the defendant was sitting. The defendant immediately stated the pistol was his and advised that he also had provided the officer who conducted the traffic stop a false name. The defendant was found to be a convicted felon with those crimes restricting him to a person not possess firearms. The firearm was also found to be stolen out of Lancaster County. The defendant was arrested and taken to Dauphin County Central Booking for arraignment.
