Penbrook Police at the Park

The Penbrook Police provided training to the children at Borough’s Little Valley Summer Program on June 26-28.  In addition to having fun while participating in various sports and other activities with the officers, the children were given instruction in how and when to call 911.  They also learned how to “Run, Hide, Fight,” if confronted by an active shooter.  Police Officers taught them what to do and not do during all phases of an active shooter incident.

Pictured is Dave Shade of Dauphin County Department of Public Safety's 911 Center teaching the children how and when to call 911.  In the background you can see the 911 simulator he used in the training.

Also pictured are the children getting an introduction to some self-defense techniques.  Mike Rothermel of the Harrisburg Kung Fu Center provided this instruction.
