On 09-04-19 the Steelton Police were called to the East End when residents reported suspicious vehicles driving down the streets with no lights on. Officers did arrive and discovered two stolen vehicles. The suspects did flee on foot and were eventually apprehended and identified as juveniles. Charges were filed through the Dauphin County Juvenile Probation Office.
After a successful five week pilot program the Steelton Police are now fully operational with body worn cameras. Each officer has an assigned Axon Body Worn Camera which will be worn during their shifts.
STEELTON POLICE K9 GOLF TOURNAMENT
The Steelton Police Department will be holding their 1st annual golf tournament to benefit the K-9 program on September 7th at Deer Valley Golf Course located at 101 Stoudt Road Hummelstown, Pa. 17036. Shotgun start is at 8;00 a.m. and registration is from 7:00 a.m. till 7:45 a.m.
There will be contest's for closet to the pin , long drive, raffle prizes and an opportunity to win a Harley Davidson and the use of a vehicle for a year.
National Night Out 2019
National Night Out will be held on Tuesday August 6, 2019 from 6 p.m. till 8 p.m. at the Cottage Hill football field. Come out and meet your local first responders along with other community groups for a night of fun.
On 07-05-19 at approximately 1 a.m. a Steelton Police Officer attempted to pull over a mini van for running a stop sign on Pine Street at North Harrisburg Street. The mini van did flee the traffic stop and did eventually stop in the 100 block of North 2nd Street. Officers did recover a large amount of marijuana, U.S. Currency, money counter and packaging materials.
On June 21, 2013 Steelton Police conducted a traffic stop on a blue and silver Ford pick-up truck for failing to stop at a posted stop sign in the area of Bessemer Street and Bailey Street. The driver was identified as Bruce A Ruppert III, who was arrestd for DUI.
On June 21, 2013 Steelton Police conducted a traffic stop in the area of North Harrisburg Street and Pine Street. The driver was identified as Joesph Stakem, who was arrested for Small Amount of Marijuana, Drug Paraphernalia, and Open Container.
On June 20, 2013 Steelton Police conducted a traffic stop on a gold in color Buick LeSabre for speeding in the 300 block of Pine Street. The driver was identified as Rodney K Williams, who was arrested for Small Amount of Marijauan and Drug Paraphenalia.
