Fire Incident at the Manor of Oakridge



On January 26th at 5:20 PM, Dauphin County Dispatch received a fire alarm for The Manor at Oakridge Independent Living facility, 4500 Oakhurst Blvd. 

Susquehanna Township Fire/Rescue arrived within three minutes to find an apartment charged with smoke and sprinkler system activated. A resident of the fire apartment was removed from the apartment by the General Manager on scene at time of the fire. Crews assisted with removal of one resident from the facility and subsequently transferred them to Life Lion Air Medical and flown to Lehigh Valley Burn Center. The female victim succumbed to her injuries early this morning. The name is being withheld at the discretion of the family and this Office.

The fire was controlled by the sprinkler system. 

Cause of the fire has been determined to be an accidental fire, subsequent to smoking. 

No additional injuries to residents or emergency responders were reported. A post fire inspection of the facility was conducted and remains open to all residents. The Susquehanna Township Police and Fire Units were assisted by the Dauphin County District Attorney’s Office Fire Investigation Team.
