On March 13th 2019 a white Ford SUV was involved in a hit-and-run crash in Harrisburg City near the Swatara Township line; it was believed that the vehicle fled into Swatara Township. Swatara Township officers converged on the area to look for the vehicle. An officer observed the vehicle in the 3500 block of Paxton Street at approximately 1122 hours and attempted to conduct a traffic stop. The suspect vehicle did not pull over and fled towards Eisenhower Boulevard. With Swatara Township police officers in pursuit, the suspect vehicle fled southbound on Eisenhower Boulevard and made its way to the Pennsylvania Turnpike. The suspect fled eastbound on the Turnpike with Swatara Township officers following. The Pennsylvania State Police joined the pursuit. Soon after entering Lebanon County the suspect vehicle began to slow. The driver of the vehicle then ran northbound from the vehicle and was chased on foot by the Pennsylvania State Police and Swatara Township Police. He was taken into custody after a brief foot pursuit. The driver was identified as Nasir Anthony GRANT, a 19-year-old resident of Philadelphia. When he was taken into custody he was found to be in possession of multiple narcotics and a loaded handgun that was reported stolen out of South Carolina. It was also determined that GRANT was a wanted person out of Philadelphia's Office of Probation. GRANT was transported back to the Dauphin County Booking Center for processing on multiple charges and will be arraigned as soon as possible.
