The Swatara Township, Harrisburg City and Steelton Boro Police Departments announce the arrest of Harry Khalil BRIGGS of Philadelphia who was apprehended this date and charged with nine (9) area armed robberies involving the use of a knife.  A joint investigation by the involved agencies culminated in the arrest of BRIGGS earlier this morning after he robbed the Dollar General Store on Eisenhower Boulevard at approximately 8:30 a.m.  BRIGGS was taken into custody following a vehicular and foot pursuit by Swatara Police officers.  BRIGGS is being charged with the following armed robberies that occurred  during the period 11/22/2017 through 12/18/2017:

11/22/2017     Family Dollar   400 S. Cameron Street – Harrisburg City       

11/25/2017     Family Dollar   2304 N. 3rd Street – Harrisburg City               

11/30/2017     Dollar General  881 Eisenhower Blvd – Swatara Twp.          

12/03/2017     Family Dollar   400 S. Cameron Street – Harrisburg City       

12/05/2017     Family Dollar  803 S. Front Street – Steelton  Borough          

12/10/2017     7-11   4811 Derry Street – Swatara Township                       

12/11/2017     Turkey Hill  6300 Derry Street – Swatara Township              

12/11/2017     Dollar General  509 S. 29th Street – Paxtang Borough           

12/18/2017     Dollar General  881 Eisenhower Blvd – Swatara Twp.          

During each of these robberies BRIGGS used physical force and a large knife to threaten either customers or store employees while demanding cash from the registers.   Several of the Victims had the knife held to their throats and necks during the robberies.  BRIGGS is currently being held at the Dauphin County Booking Center pending arraignment on robbery and aggravated assault charges.
