SHOOTING INCIDENT AT WILLIAM HOWARD DAY CEMETERY

On Friday, July 16 2021 at 10:09 a.m. Swatara Police were dispatched to the William Howard Day Cemetery at 801 Lincoln Street for the report of a suicidal person.  Upon arrival on scene the officers found a 35 year old female threatening to shoot herself with a handgun.  Despite the officers continuous attempts to diffuse the situation through communicating with this person she shot herself once in the chest causing a fatal injury.  No other persons were injured and no officers were required to use any type of force during this incident.

The Swatara Police extend their thanks to the Steelton Borough, Lower Paxton, Susquehanna and Derry Township Police Departments, UPMC Life Team EMS and the Dauphin County 911 center for their assistance during this incident.  Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact Det.
