On Friday, January 27, 2023 at approximately 9:27 a.m., Swatara Police patrol officers came upon a two vehicle accident that had just occurred in the 900 block of S. 29th Street. Upon their arrival on scene, one of the vehicle was on fire with the fire spreading towards the second vehicle. In an attempt to save the unburned vehicle and the owners personal property inside that car, they moved it away from the burning vehicle. Unknown to the officers, the burning vehicle was not in the “park” position, nor was its emergency brake engaged, which allowed it to roll away from the scene and into a nearby residence. Unfortunately, the residence sustained damage from the vehicle striking the building and the ensuing fire. The Harrisburg Bureau of Police is handling this accident investigation.
