On May 14, 2021 at 11:59 PM Swatara Township Police were dispatched to 675 Mohn Street for a report of an unknown problem. Officers arrived at the residence at 12:08 AM and received no answer at the door. Officers were able to hear a baby crying inside and forced entry upon determining that something did not appear right.
When Officers made entry they found 36 year old Elizabeth Wise deceased on the couch from gunshot wounds. Officers also found 42 year old Brian Womelsdorf lying on the ground with a gunshot wound to his head.
Officers and Life Team EMS provided treatment to Womelsdorf. Life Team transported Womelsdorf to the Penn State Hershey Medical Center where he later died.
Swatara Township Police investigated this with the assistance of the Dauphin County District Attorney’s Office and the Dauphin County Coroner’s Office. The investigation found that Womelsdorf had been arguing with Wise previously in the evening. This ended with Womelsdorf shooting Wise multiple times and then shooting himself.
At the time of the shooting there were 3 minor children inside the residence. None of the children were harmed and have been placed with family members.
