Snow Emergency declared for Swatara Township

Update 1/19/19 1546 hours: The State of Emergency has been extended until 3:00 PM on January 20, 2019.

A STATE OF EMERGENCY has been declared for Swatara Township, Dauphin County, PA to begin on January 19th at 3 PM and last until January 20th at noon. Please limit your travels on Swatara Township roadways during this period of time.

All streets designated as "snow emergency routes" must be cleared of all parked vehicles. Vehicles that are not removed by the owner may be towed at the owner's expense and the owner can be fined.

Vehicles not equipped with snow tires, chains, or all-season tires are not allowed to operate on snow emergency routes during the state of emergency. If they are, the driver can be fined.

Snow fall, ice, and high winds may cause interruptions to electricity and heat. If you lose heat at your home which creates a serious hazard for family members, please call the Swatara Township Police at 717-564-2550, or call 911 if there is a life threatening emergency.
