Swatara Police Provide Pit Stop for Tour De Belt Participants
The Capital Area Greenbelt Association held their annual Tour De Belt bicycling event this Sunday, which is a major fundraiser for them. The Greenbelt is a 20 mile pathway which encompasses the Harrisburg Area, to include portions that go through Swatara Township and Paxtang Borough. Swatara Police along with Swatara Township Commissioner Tom Connolly were out on the Greenbelt within the Township and provided a pit stop for participants of the Tour De Belt. The pit stop included Gatorade and goody bags which contained treats, snacks and information on upcoming events within Swatara Township. The Township also sponsored a porta potty, which was much appreciated by cyclists who had biked about 12 miles prior to hitting the pit stop area. Cpl. Neal along with Officers Moore and Kramer patrolled the Greenbelt via department bicycles and our department’s newest Community Service vehicle, “Nelly,” which is an ATV. Overall, it was wonderful seeing everyone out riding their bikes and a pleasure meeting those who stopped for a quick break in Swatara Township.
