Swatara Township National Night Out August 5th!

On Tuesday, August 5th, 2014 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., the Swatara Township Police Department will be hosting its annual National Night Out event at Vanatta Park; which is located in the 4800 block of Derry Street behind 7-11. This event is free of charge and is open to everyone. During National Night Out, the public has an opportunity to meet with various police officers and emergency personnel in a relaxed atmosphere to promote community involvement to stop crime.

Events this year include: a frozen t-shirt contest, basketball free throw contest, water balloon toss, pie eating contest, an appearance by Hershey Medical Center’s Life Lion helicopter and “McGruff the Crime Dog”. There will be businesses and community groups present with free giveaways. There will also be free hot dogs, snacks, and drinks (while supplies last).

This is a great event for the whole family. For more information, or if you are a business owner wanting to participate or help sponsor the event, please contact Corporal Pokrop via email at bpokrop@swatarapolice.org or Officer Reinhart at areinhart@swatarapolice.org.
