
On May 8, 2020, at 03:51 AM, the Hummelstown Borough Police Department and Hummelstown Fire Department were dispatched to the address of 41 North Walnut Street, Hummelstown, PA 17036, for a reported structure fire. Police officers and fire fighters arrived at the location to find the front porch of the residence on fire. The fire and subsequent fire-fighting activities resulting in substantial damage to the structure.
A nearby security video system recorded the structure on the date and time of the fire and captured the event. At 03:34 AM, a person walking eastbound on the south sidewalk of W. Second street crosses Walnut Street to the front sidewalk of 41 North Walnut Street and is blocked from camera view by the residence.
At 03:35 AM there is a significant thermal flash from the front of 41 North Walnut Street. A person quickly walks from the sidewalk area directly in front of the address across North Walnut Street and west down West Second street.
An exhaustive investigation was completed by the Hummelstown Borough Police Department working in conjunction with Dauphin County Arson Investigation Unit. Hummelstown Police are seeking information related to the arson and the identification of the suspect.
Dauphin County Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $2,000 for information leading to an arrest in this case. Tipsters are encouraged to submit a tip through the Crime Watch portal and may remain anonymous if they choose.
