UPDATE - On December 24, 2019 HBPD encountered a Chocolate Lab running at large. The dog was captured with the assistance of a local resident and HBPD transported the dog to the Humane Society. During the course of this investigation, a possible owner had been identified with the assistance of the Dauphin County Humane Society staff. The suspected owner of the dog was contacted and the investigation determined that he was in fact the owner of the dog since April 2019. The owner was identified as a Dauphin County resident. He had become frustrated with the dogs behavior due to age and health conditions. He had released the dog to fend for itself sometime mid-December. HBPD and the Dauphin County Dog Warden assisted in charging the suspect with three non-traffic summary citations for this related incident. He has since pled guilty to all three charges.
The Chocolate Lab now known as "Santa" is currently being treated for Lyme's Disease and will be placed for adoption once he has recovered.
HBPD would like to thank Humane Society staff and the Dauphin County Dog Warden for the assistance they provided to hold the dog owner accountable for his actions.
