The Susquehanna Township Police Department celebrated Police Memorial Day today with a noon roll call. We were joined in this roll call by Detective Mike Proper (Retired), who was presented with a Purple Heart Medal from a past incident when he was seriously wounded at a Riot. This roll call ceremony was held in Honor of Lieutenant Robert McCallister, our fallen brother who this week was added to the Police Memorial Wall in Washington D.C. Recipients of Awards today were as follows:
Captain Jason Reber received both his Captain Promotion Citation as well as a Medal of Valor for a past action relating to a shooting incident.
Sergeant Brian Tienter received the Medal of Valor for a past action relating to a shooting incident.
Corporal Lee Ann Tarasi received the Drew Comrey Order of Honor Medal for Distinguished Service to Law Enforcement.
Patrol Officer First Class Alex Wagner received the Medal of Heroism for actions relating to his service with the Dauphin County Crisis Response Team.
Patrol Officer Calvin Vanderpool received a Unit/Platoon Citation for excellent work relating to the capture of a Child Abduction Suspect.
Detective Darryl Brown received an Award of Merit Medal for outstanding investigative work over the course of the last year, specifically relating to a shooting investigation.
Patrol Officer Jamie Sitler received an Award of Merit Medal and the first Sergeant James K Nelson Officer of the Year award for exceptional attention to duty and commitment during the year 2019.Retired Detective Mike Proper received a Purple Heart Medal for actions relating to a Riot in which he was seriously injured.
