The Government of Susquehanna Township and the Susquehanna Township Police Department are very proud today in that two dedicated members of our Government team were Honored. District Attorney Francis Chardo honored Deputy Director of Public Safety Andrew J Somma and Sanford Krevsky Esquire today at the District Attorneys awards ceremony.
Deputy Director Somma was honored with the Lieutenant Robert E McCallister award. Deputy Somma is in his 21st year of service with our Agency, having been honored nationally last year for singing Happy Birthday to a young man on a Traffic Stop. Deputy Somma is also a recipient of the Medal of Valor and a 28 year veteran of the U.S. Navy and Navy Reserve. As a young sailor on a U.S. Navy Combatant Ship in the Mediterranean sea during the Cold War, Deputy Director working as a Sonar Technician was decorated for identifying a an uncharted Soviet Submarine in the Mediterranean Sea. He retired as a Chief Petty Officer, and proudly continues to serve today as our Deputy Director.
Mr. Sanford Krevsky is the epitome of a Public Servant, and has served for over two decades on our Civil Service Commission. He is presently the Chairman of this Commission, and today received the Citizen Award from District Attorney Chardo. Mr. Krevsky has played a pivotal role in the Hiring and Promotions of our Officers for over two decades, and his service to our Community is inspiring.
