Fran Chardo serves as District Attorney of Dauphin County, having been appointed by the Court of Common Pleas in January 2018 and elected to four-year terms in 2019 and 2023. Mr. Chardo heads a staff of 31 attorneys, 12 detectives, and 35 support staff. He has served as a prosecutor for 30 years, handling prosecutions of murders and other violent felonies and grand jury investigations. District Attorney Chardo is board certified in criminal trial advocacy by the National Board of Trial Advocacy. He is an adjunct professor at Widener University Commonwealth School of Law and an advocacy instructor at the Dickinson School of Law of the Pennsylvania State University. Mr. Chardo previously served as board president of the Honorable William W. Lipsitt American Inn of Court, board president of the Boys and Girls Club of Harrisburg, and the Capital Region Unit of the American Cancer Society.
