Dajuan Porter, age 31, today pleaded no contest to first degree murder, burglary of a residence, and arson. President Judge Richard A. Lewis accepted the pleas and imposed a life sentence and a consecutive term of 20 to 40 years of imprisonment. The convictions relate to the June 10, 2013, murder of Joyce Roth, age 87, in Derry Township, and the arson later that morning to the Barbush family home in Lower Paxton Township. The Dauphin County District Attorney's Office praised the exemplary investigation conducted by the Derry Township Police Department, the Criminal Investigation Division of the District Attorney's Office, the Harrisburg Bureau of Police, the Lower Paxton Township Police, and the Pennsylvania State Police. In particular, Sgt. Greg Day of the Derry Township Police, Det. John O'Connor of the Harrisburg Bureau of Police, and Det. Sgt. Todd Johnson acquitted themselves with distinction.
