February 19, 2015- Commonwealth v. Manuel A. Ramos: A preliminary hearing was held before Magisterial District Judge Lowell A. Witmer for Manuel A. Ramos who is charged with multiple counts of burglary and related charges stemming from 38 residential burglaries in the Central Pennsylvania region. Following testimony at the preliminary hearing, charges related to the 38 residential burglary against Manuel Ramos were bound over to the Court of Common Pleas. Ramos, together with three co-conspirators, who were involved in various combinations of the 38 burglaries, were charged with identifying residences, primarily in Dauphin, Perry, and York counties that were apparently unoccupied due to the residents being at work. The residences were primarily located in rural areas and were somewhat obstructed from view. Ramos and his co-conspirators would gain access to the homes, by force if necessary, and would target firearms, jewelry and electronics. The estimated total of the value of the property stolen exceeds $170,000.
Two other co-defendants previously waived the charges to county court without a preliminary hearing.
The lead investigator was Trooper Jeremiah Mistic, now of the Harrisburg barracks. Trooper Mistic's investigation was lengthy and thorough. It involved several interviews, fingerprint analysis and securing data for GPS locations. All related charges from the several counties are being prosecuted in Dauphin County.
