On Saturday, December 20, 2014, at approximately 1130 a.m., detectives from the Dauphin County District Attorney's Office's Criminal Investigation arrested eight vendors at Saturday’s Market in Londonderry Township and charged them with Trademark Counterfeiting after a month long investigation revealed that they were selling counterfeit merchandise at the market. Assisting in the investigation were deputies from the Dauphin County Sherriff’s Office, the Pennsylvania State Police, and agents from the United States Department of Homeland Security and Postal Inspection Service. Confiscated in the arrests were $8500 in cash, a .40 caliber handgun, and over $100,000.00 worth of counterfeit clothing, boots and DVD’s. Listed below are the names of the suspects arrested:
Lawrence Stringer, 27 YOA, 300 block Spruce Street, Steelton, PA.-arraigned before MDJ Marsha Stewart and released on unsecured bail
Ibrahim Oumarou, 42 YOA, 2900 block Pineford Drive, Middletown, PA-arraigned before MDJ Marsha Stewart and released on unsecured bail
Ahmed Bamba, 30 YOA, 600 block Columbia Ave., Lancaster, PA-arraigned before MDJ Marsha Stewart and released on unsecured bail
Elhadj Abdoul-Karimou, 51 YOA, 3600 block Brookridge Terrace, Harrisburg, PA-arraigned before MDJ Marsha Stewart and released on unsecured bail
Michael Thompson, 30 YOA, 400 block S.17th St., Harrisburg, PA-arraigned before MDJ Marsha Stewart and released on unsecured bail
Yaye Mounkaila, 41 YOA, 200 block Hale Ave., Harrisburg, PA-arraigned before MDJ Marsha Stewart and released on unsecured bail
Samantha Edwards, 36 YOA, 2000 block Berryhill Street, Harrisburg, PA-released on summons
Harley Smith, 36 YOA, 500 block W.King Street, York, PA-released on summons
District Attorney Ed Marsico commended the agencies for their work on this investigation and warned consumers to be alert for counterfeit goods. "At the busiest shopping time of the year, consumers should be aware that there are vendors selling fake or knock off goods and not fall prey to the lure of a very cheap, but counterfeit gift."
The charges are mere accusations and all of those arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
