On October 7, 2015, members of the Dauphin County District Attorney’s Office were invited to participate in a live-action training for the Dauphin County Crisis Response Team. The CRT team is a tactical team that was formed in 1992 consisting of police officers from a many of Dauphin County’s police departments. The team specializes in handling hostage negotiations, barricaded gunmen, and serving high-risk arrest warrants. Eight members of the DA’s office attended the training where they were suited-up in protective gear and asked to role-play various scenarios for the CRT team to train and sharpen their skills. The training was helpful not only to the team, but also the DA’s. It provided a greater level of understanding for the serious skills the team possesses, as well as the dangers they are exposed to regularly in their work. Chief Deputy District Attorney Jennifer Gettle said it best, “I already knew it was a great group of guys- but seeing them up close, in action, gives a whole new level of respect for the work they do.”
A special Thank You to Detective Tom Pavone from Derry Township Police Department for arranging this training opportunity for our staff.
