On November 5, 2020, John Allen, age 77, pleaded guilty to two counts of indecent assault (relating to a child under the age of 13 years), two counts of indecent assault (relating to a child under the age of 16 years), and two counts of corruption of minors. The charges related to two children whom the defendant victimized while he served as a Catholic priest. The Catholic Church previously dismissed Allen from the clerical state.
The victims agreed to an agreement which required the defendant to plead guilty and resulted in his designation as a sexually violent predator. On February 16, 2021, Judge Deborah E. Curcillo sentenced Allen on the six misdemeanor counts pursuant to the plea agreement. The defendant will serve a term of 5 years of probation with extensive sex offender conditions designed to protect the public. Allen is not eligible for early discharge from probation and must be supervised until February 2026.
