February 1, 2016- Commonwealth v Milton Flores: Milton R. Flores, 50, of Harrisburg, was sentenced today by the Honorable Judge John F. Cherry to 5-10 years in a state correctional institute for indecently assaulting a 14 year old girl in June of 2014. On November 2, 2015, the defendant entered a no contest plea to the charges of indecent assault; corruption of minors; and unlawful contact with minors. Police arrested the defendant after the victim reported that the defendant had touched her buttocks with his hands and that he had pulled her pants down to kiss her buttocks.
When sentencing the defendant above the recommended state guidelines, Judge Cherry noted that the defendant had a prior statutory sexual assault offense from 1994. He indicated that “It is clear to the Court that you are a danger” necessitating a severe sentence given his prior record.
The defendant was also declared a sexual offender under Megan’s Law triggering lifetime registration for the defendant. During his parole sentence, the defendant is also not permitted to have any contact with minors and he is subject to the standard conditions for sexual offenders including no contact with the victim.
Detective David Melhorn of the Derry Township Police Department investigated this case. The case was prosecuted by Chief Deputy District Attorney Jennifer W. Gettle.
