On September 1, 2022, John Gillis, also known as John Gilles, pleaded guilty to patronizing a prostitute before Magisterial District Justice Hanif Johnson. The charge arose from a June 2022 incident in which Gillis was in the process of exchanging cash for oral sex from a female.
Deputy District Attorney Chelsea Robbins prosecuted the case.
***Most “prostitutes” have a history of being trafficked or are being trafficked at the time of the prostitution act. Their traffickers subject them to force, fraud, or coercion, and utilize power and control to retain the money paid for the sexual acts. It is a felony of the first degree to patronize a victim of sexual servitude. ***
