October 28, 2015- Commonwealth v Antoine Dayd & Calvin Hill-Gamble: On October 28, 2015, a Dauphin County jury found Antoine Dayd guilty of Person not to Possess a Firearm, 3 counts of Carrying a Firearm without a License, Theft by Receiving Stolen Property, Unlawful Possession of an Instrument of a Crime, and Fleeing and Eluding Police. The same jury found Calvin Hill-Gamble guilty of Person not to Possess a Firearm, 3 counts of Carrying a Firearm without a License, Theft by Receiving Stolen Property, Unlawful Possession of an Instrument of a Crime, Possession with Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance, Flight to Avoid Apprehension, Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
The charges stem from an incident that occurred on August 22, 2014, a little after 3 in the morning, when Officer Matt Corby from Swatara Township Police Department attempted a traffic stop on Calvin Hill-Gamble’s vehicle in the area behind the Harrisburg Mall. The vehicle did not stop and continued on until coming to a stop at the Ivy Ridge apartments. Immediately upon stopping, all occupants attempted to flee from the vehicle. The front seat passenger, Calvin Hill-Gamble, and the backseat passenger fled and got away. The driver, Antoine Dayd, was caught that night at the vehicle. Once police determined that Calvin Hill-Gamble was the front seat occupant, he was arrested and taken into custody. Police searched the vehicle and found heroin, crack cocaine, a scale used to weigh drugs, and a bag containing 3 guns, 3 masks, gloves, binoculars, and ammunition.
During the trial, Deputy District Attorney Kristie Falbo argued that this bag was a robbery kit and contained the tools of Antoine Dayd and Calvin Hill-Gamble’s trade. The jury agreed.
Sentencing is set for January 4, 2016.
