March 13, 2018- Commonwealth v. Anthony Moyd: On March 13, 2018, a Dauphin County jury convicted Anthony Moyd for Persons Not to Possess a Firearm, Terroristic Threats, and three counts of Recklessly Endangering Another Person.
On July 22, 2017, the victim was texting Moyd about ending their on again, off again, relationship when she received a final message from Moyd stating, “Bitxh nd I’ll shoot u I n ur f***in faxe.” That next morning around 6:00 AM, Moyd entered the victim’s apartment with a loaded .357 Magnum revolver. He confronted her and began waving the gun around. Three children six years old and younger were present in the room at the time of the encounter. After Moyd, who was under the influence of an unknown substance, passed out on a bed in the bedroom, the victim was able to escape the apartment with the three small children and called the police.
Once police arrived, they made entry into the victim’s apartment and Moyd was arrested. The loaded revolver along with a plastic baggie containing additional rounds of ammunition was found on the bed where he initially confronted the victim. Moyd cannot legally possess a firearm based upon a prior Robbery conviction from 2008.
Moyd’s trial took place on March 12-13, 2018 in the Dauphin County Court of Common Pleas. The jury found him guilty of all counts. This case was investigated by Harrisburg Police Department. The case was prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Kayla Bolan. Sentencing is scheduled for April 3, 2018.
