September 22, 2015- Commonwealth v. Edward Ramsey: This morning, immediately prior to a trial by a jury, Edward Ramsey pled guilty to the charge of Escape stemming from an incident that occurred on August 21, 2013. In August 2013 Ramsey was an inmate at Dauphin County Prison awaiting trial on a felony burglary charge. While awaiting trial, he was granted trustee status and allowed to participate in a work detail at Dauphin County Highlands. While at work, Ramsey called a cab and left the work site going to a residence in Harrisburg City. The resident, knowing that Ramsey was incarcerated at Dauphin County Prison, contacted the police and Ramsey was immediately apprehended. Deputy District Attorney’s Codi Tucker and Stephen McLendon prosecuted this case and credit the collaboration between Swatara Township Police, Dauphin County Prison officials, Dauphin County Probation and Parole, Dauphin County Sheriff’s Department and Dauphin County Criminal Investigative Division for the immediate apprehension of Ramsey.
Ramsey was also convicted on a separate robbery charge last month after a trial by jury. Ramsey is scheduled for sentencing on October 19, 2015 before the Honorable Richard A. Lewis.
