November 18, 2015- Commonwealth v Kyle E Lewis: Kyle E. Lewis this morning appeared before the Honorable Judge Deborah E. Curcillo and entered a plea of guilty to Robbery, Robbery of a Motor Vehicle, Theft by Unlawful Taking, and Simple Assault. The charges stemmed from an incident in the early morning hours of May 19, 2015 at Lisi Shell Gas Station in Washington Township. Lewis had been seen loitering in the area throughout the night and when the victim, a 77 year old woman from the Millersburg area, arrived for work at 4:30 am, Lewis approached her with a knife and ordered her to hand over her keys, purse, and car. Lewis then fled in the victim’s vehicle with her belongings. Trooper Michael Crane from the Pennsylvania State Police, Lykens Barracks, investigated this incident along with Trooper Justin Albert and Trooper Nicholas Bierzonski. Troopers were able to identify Lewis as the robber and located the stolen vehicle outside of his girlfriend’s house in the Millersburg Borough. Lewis was found hiding inside the attic of the residence and taken into custody. Inside the victim’s vehicle the Troopers located numerous items that did not belong to the victim, most notably, a realistic looking automatic pellet pistol. The knife was not recovered and Lewis indicated that it was intentionally disposed of, telling the Troopers, “Yeah. Good luck finding that knife.”
Deputy District Attorney Katie Adam prosecuted this case on behalf of the Commonwealth. The guilty plea in this case was an open plea, meaning that no plea agreement was entered into between the Commonwealth and the defendant. Sentencing is set in this case for January 19, 2016 before the Honorable Judge Deborah E. Curcillo.
