September 12, 2019- Commonwealth v. Carl Gamby: Bizarre behavior by a new hotel employee on his 2nd day on the job, which included an unwanted kiss to a co-worker and stripping down naked in the hotel lobby, lands Carl Gamby in the Dauphin County Prison for 11 ½ months to 23 months. On September 12, 2019, a Dauphin County jury convicted Gamby of Indecent Assault, Indecent Exposure, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
On March 28, 2019, Gamby went to work at the Econo Lodge in Swatara Township. This was his second day on the job. The victim, another employee of the hotel, was training him at the front desk when Gamby excused himself and went to the restroom to use a controlled substance. Upon stumbling out of the bathroom, he kissed the victim on the neck, took off his shirt and then proceeded to approach her again telling her, “I just want to kiss you.” The victim held up her hand to prevent Gamby from getting closer to her. At this point, the victim was able to slip past Gamby and walk to the exit while dialing 911. Gamby then proceeded to take off the remainder of his clothes and ran into the walls of the hotel before spotting the victim in the parking lot. Gamby chased after her and began pounding on the doors and windows of her car until she was able to drive away. Gamby was found naked in the parking lot when police responded.
Gamby’s trial took place September 11-12, 2019 in the Dauphin County Court of Common Pleas. The jury found him guilty on call counts and he was sentenced to 11 ½-23 months in the Dauphin County Prison. This case was investigated by Swatara Township Police Department. The case was prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Kayla Bolan.
